Homebuilders added more single-family homes to the market in southeast Wisconsin in 2018 than they did in 2017. This is according to the updated 2018 annual data released by the Wisconsin Builders Association.
Overall, builders added 2,370 single-family homes to the region in 2018. This is a 17% increase when compared to 2017. Waukesha County added the most single-family dwellings in the region. Dane County led the state of Wisconsin with 1318 homes.
The WOW counties Ozaukee (235 new homes in 2018, up from 211 in 2017); Washington (366 new homes in 2018, up from 350 in 2017); Waukesha (1060 new homes in 2018, up from 852 in 2017); followed by Milwaukee (116 new homes in 2018, up from 100 in 2017);
The addition of new homes to the market hasn’t slowed a rises in prices, as inventory of start homes has still fallen behind. In February, home prices increased 8.3 percent compared with the year-ago period, according to the Realtors Association. Home sale data for the region showed a median selling price of $182,000 in the month of February 2019 compared with $168,000 a year ago (2018).
